MONSTER FEST 2023 Announced For Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide & Perth

Friday, 6th October

Monster Fest returns to Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide & Perth from October 27-29 for MONSTER FEST 2023 at Event Cinemas George St, Event Cinemas Brisbane City, Event Cinemas Marion & Event Cinemas Innaloo. MONSTER FEST 2023 would not be possible without the support of our Festival Sponsors; BeserkUmbrella EntertainmentRoar DigitalLexlabDeadEndDVD and Red Octopus Screenprinting. Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide & Perth’s 3 Day Festival line-up has been curated from an eclectic selection of the MONSTER FEST 2023 10 Day program in Melbourne. With Tickets Now On Sale, we’re pleased to reveal our Complete Programming for all festival dates.

From the dark imagination of H.P. Lovecraft, director Joe Lynch (MAYHEM, WRONG TURN 2) and the reteaming of RE-ANIMATOR & FROM BEYOND screenwriter Dennis Paoli and producer Brian YuznaSUITABLE FLESH witnesses Dr. Elizabeth Derby’s (Heather Graham, BOOGIE NIGHTS) deadly and debaucherous descent into madness following her treatment of troubled patient Asa Waite (Judah Lewis, SUMMER OF ’84).

Late fees are the least of Nyla’s worries when she returns a stack of tapes to Blaster Video and unwittingly unleashes the characters within the films in Cody Kennedy & Tim Rutherford‘s nostalgic, hilarious and action-packed THE LAST VIDEO STORE.

Revisionist, ridiculous and hilarious does not begin to describe filmmaking trio Lisa Fineberg, John Campbell & Jay Morrissey‘s THE EMU WAR, an absurdist reimagining of Australia’s historical battle with the native Emu back in 1932, complete with puppetry, animatronics, gore and laughs galore!

Fire up the glass barbie and get ready for some transtemporal travel with Sam Odlum‘s TIME ADDICTS, a sci-fi/comedy that sees Denise (Freya Tingley, HEMLOCK GROVE) and Johnny (Charles Grounds, BABYTEETH) traverse the space-time continuum to retrieve a bag of ‘crystal’ to settle a debt with their dealer, Kane (Joshua Morton, SKINFORD).

Folklore and festive frights collide in director Magnus Martens‘ THERE’S SOMETHING IN THE BARN, that sees an American family relocate to a remote Norwegian village where they become the target of a gnome uprising.

Maligned by critics and largely unseen by audiences upon theatrical release, director Alec Mills‘ BLOOD MOON found its way to the hearts of genre fans the world over via home video, now 23 years later Monster Fest is proud to present an all-new 4K Restoration of this unsung Australian slasher classic.

Subversive, suspenseful and squeam-inducing barely scratches the surface in describing director Ariel Vida‘s TRIM SEASON, that sees a group of twenty-somethings’ dream job turn into an inescapable nightmare on an isolated weed farm.

Monster Fest continues to curate the finest genre shorts coursing through the veins of the international festival circuit and this year with MONSTER SHORTS, we’ve got the most gripping, hellraising and downright skin-crawling of these including several fresh homegrown discoveries.

We are also pleased to reveal that our Adelaide festival will have an Exclusive Session of Ursula Dabrowsky‘s THE DEVIL’S WORK and Brisbane an Exclusive Session of Ben & Jacob Burgha’s HEAD COUNTthat will run concurrently with other programming at the festival.
