Teens start mysteriously dying in their sleep after suffering intense, terrifying nightmares featuring a horribly scarred man in a ragged fedora. After investigating the phenomenon, Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) begins to suspect that a dark secret kept by all of the adults in her town may be the key to unraveling the mystery.
