CINEMANIACS Present ‘Cut The Protesting’ At ACMI!
On August 27, CINEMANIACS will host ‘CUT THE PROTESTING‘ at ACMI, a presentation and panel on films that caused controversy and sparked protest.
Launching from a twenty-minute video essay detailing various components of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR (1973) by Lee Gambin, fellow critics Emma Westwood and Jarret Gahan will discuss a varied array of works, ranging from the religiously-themed THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST (1988) and THE DEVILS (1971) to seasonal slasher SILENT NIGHT, DEAD NIGHT (1984) and many more.
Grab your placards and get ready to picket, whether you’re a veteran of CINEMANIACS events or a first-timer, this is a unique opportunity to engage with cinema and like-minded folk in Melbourne!
