WIN Tickets To HEAR MY EYES: SUSPIRIA Live In Melbourne!
Dario Argento‘s seminal 1977 classic SUSPIRIA will be re-scored and performed live in Melbourne with two performances on March 1st.
After huge sold-out shows in 2018 and 2019, Hear My Eyes returns to Arts Centre Melbourne to present a truly unique sensory experience; Dario Argento’s Suspiria (1977) with a completely new score, written and performed live by a group of musicians specifically curated for the event. The supergroup directed by Stu Mackenzie (King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard) and Joey Walker (King Gizzard / Bullant) also features Carolyn Schofield (Fia Fiell), Leah Senior, Michael Cavanagh (King Gizzard), Genevieve Fry (Cold Hands Warm Heart) and the Melbourne Chamber Choir – an eclectic lineup curated by Hear My Eyes founder and artistic director Haydn Green.
HEAR MY EYES absolutely love Goblin’s original soundtrack and they never aim to compete with a film’s original score, these events are about re-contextualising cinema and creating an immersive, ephemeral cinema experience, offering audiences a truly one-off event!
Unanimously regarded by fans and critics alike as one of the best horror films ever made, SUSPIRIA (1977) was once described by John Carpenter as like “being inside of a painting”. A pivotal moment in horror cinema that dispensed the shackles of Hollywood realism and bore to the screen one of cinema’s greatest sensory experiences – a vivid, immersive film defined by it’s intoxicating celluloid technicolour visuals and Luciano Tovoli’s mind-warping cinematography.
For the first time ever, audiences will have the chance to experience SUSPIRIA with a live new score incorporating elements of experimental electronics, baroque classical compositions and psychedelic rock to create a hallucinatory experience matched only by the film itself.
Courtesy of HEAR MY EYES we have a Double Pass to GIVEAWAY to the 8pm session on Sunday March 1st!
