Trailer Drop For Timely HBO Series LOVECRAFT COUNTRY!
With all that’s transpiring in the United States presently, a series such as HBO‘s LOVECRAFT COUNTRY is bound to do more than merely entertain, it will hopefully encourage more conversation with voices that need be heard.
Based on Matt Ruff‘s dark fantasy novel, the series journeys into a racially-tense South during the 1950s to do battle with both the daily horrors of an African American living in that period and other terrors facing them from beyond our world.
LOVECRAFT COUNTRY follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors, THE LAST BLACK MAN IN SAN FRANCISCO) as he meets up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell, BIRDS OF PREY) and his Uncle George (Courtney B. Vance, THE MUMMY) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams, MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN). This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.
LOVECRAFT COUNTRY is executive produced by Misha Green (HELIX), J.J. Abrams (LOST) and Jordan Peele (GET OUT). The series will run for ten episodes from August in the United States via HBO and while Foxtel will no doubt air it locally, there’s been no formal announcement as to its release here.
