MONSTER FEST TRAVELLING SIDESHOW Brisbane Guests Announced!

With just over a week before the MONSTER FEST TRAVELLING SIDESHOW rolls into Brisbane, we’re psyched to announce the festival’s special guests!

CAGE DIVE filmmaker Gerald Rascionato will be in-attendance on Saturday May 13th to field a post-screening Q&A hosted by Andrew Leavold. After graduating from film school, Rascionato moved to Sydney to pursue his passion for filmmaking with Ambience Entertainment, however after being diagnosed with a hereditary back condition, his career was cut-short. However it was happenstance that during his rehabilitation he caught The Discovery Channel’s Shark Week and was inspired to make his debut feature, CAGE DIVE.

Murder-rock maestro extraordinaire THE SCREAMING MEANIES will open Sunday May 14th’s 40th anniversary screening of SUSPIRIA with a set inspired by prog rock gods, GOBLIN. THE SCREAMING MEANIES is more than a musician, he’s a composer, sound designer and power house, having worked on over five feature films to date including MONDO YAKUZA, GONE LESBO GONE: THE UNTOLD TALE OF AN UNSEEN FILM and THE SEARCH FOR WENG WENG. Here’s a track from THE SCREAMING MEANIES inspired by SUSPIRIA and the work of GOBLIN.

When asked about the track, THE SCREAMING MEANIES said “I was asked by Matthew Victor Pastor to write a track for his new film, and he asked for a track just like GOBLIN’s SUSPIRIA. He wanted a murder ballad, and to try and make it sound just like GOBLIN, and being GOBLIN (one of my favourite artists), I jumped at the chance. It’s not really a cover, but as close as you can get. As I am a one man band, I tried to get all the sounds just write. It has become one of my favourite tracks I have written.

In addition to hosting CAGE DIVE‘s Q&A, filmmaker, author and cult film guru Andrew Leavold will be in-attendance throughout the festival, introducing THE EVIL WITHIN SUSPIRIA.

MONSTER FEST TRAVELLING SIDESHOW runs from Friday May 12th to Sunday May 14th at Event Cinemas Myer Centre. For film, session and ticketing information visit the official site here.
