Canberra‘s National Film and Sound Archive of Australia will play host to a ‘Punk Rock Movie Massacre’ this Saturday with a double feature of Andrew Leavold‘s PUB: THE MOVIE and Dick Dale‘s RIBSPREADER, complete with post-screening Q&As with the filmmakers.

PUB: THE MOVIE

The story of Australian cartoonist and punk rocker, Fred Negro, creator of PUB, the wacky cartoon strip that chronicled the history of the St Kilda music scene and his controversial shock-rock band, I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVY.

RIBSPREADER
Dir. Dick Dale | Australia 2022 | 90 Minutes
Decades after his career as a tobacco advertising icon, Bryan Burns’ life is in ruins. After his mother dies of lung cancer, he is tormented by a talking cigarette on an anti-smoking billboard. He snaps and transforms into the Ribspreader, a killer stalking the city, extinguishing smokers and cutting out their lungs to make his macabre smoking jacket.

Festivities kick-off at 4:30pm with PUB: THE MOVIE followed by RIBSPREADER at 6:50pm then will kick-on into the night with an afterparty gig at Smiths Alternative featuring White Knuckle Fever (Sydney) and Ketamine Cowboys (Brisbane).
