THE HUNT Is On…Home Entertainment This July

Few films have had such a run of bad luck of late as Blumhouse‘s surprisingly funny and delightfully macabre THE HUNT.

Written by Damon Lindelof (LOST) & Nick Cuse (THE LEFTOVERS) and directed by Craig Zobel (COMPLIANCE), THE HUNT is the latest riff on the timeless classic THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME, that pits humans as prey for other humans to hunt.

Scheduled for a theatrical release last September, the film was pulled by Universal Pictures before release after the trailer came under fire from no less than American President Donald Trump for its glorification of violence, following one of countless shooting massacres in the US. THE HUNT was finally re-dated for March 13th this year but unfortunately within a week of its release, cinemas throughout the States shutdown entirely due to COVID-19, sadly this meant the film’s Australian release of April 9th was also pulled.

With no cinemas left to screen the film and two setbacks already, THE HUNT went directly to VOD locally but thankfully the home entertainment gods over at Universal Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (USPHE) have seen fit to release the film on both Blu-ray & DVD this July 15th!
TheHunt-HEPS.fwIn this subversive satire, a group of elites gather for the very first time at a remote Manor House to hunt ordinary Americans for sport. But the elites’ master plan is about to be derailed because one of The Hunted, Crystal (Betty Gilpin, GLOW), knows The Hunters’ game better than they do. She turns the tables on the killers, picking them off one by one as she makes her way toward the mysterious woman (two-time Oscar’ winner Hilary Swank) at the centre of it all.

Unfortunately the Blu-ray & DVD releases are a light on the extra content side of things with a mere trio of short featurettes!

Special Features
Crafting The Hunt – (5.04min Featurette)
Death Scene Breakdowns – (2.36min Featurette)
Athena vs. Crystal: Hunter or Hunted? (2.42min Featurette)
