Taking place in 1979, X follows a group of young filmmakers who set out to make an adult film in rural Texas, but when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.

X stars Brittany Snow (PROM NIGHT), Mia Goth (SUSPIRIA), Scott ‘Kid Cudi’ Mescudi (DON’T LOOK UP), Martin Henderson (THE RING), Owen Campbell (SUPER DARK TIMES), Stephen Ure (DEATHGASM) and Jenna Ortega (SCREAM).

Shot locally in Whanganui along with Wellington, X was eligible for the New Zealand Screen Production Grant.

New Zealand Film Commission Chief Executive David Strong says “‘X showcases New Zealand’s versatile landscapes, with Texas re-created in Whanganui, Otaki, Foxton and Wellington. It also highlights the depth of talented New Zealand cast and crew who work on productions like this”.

The New Zealand Premiere of X will be held at The Roxy Cinema in Wellington on Thursday 7 April 8pm. The premiere is proudly supported by Screen Wellington and will be hosted by Terror-Fi’s Festival Director James Partridge.
