Trailer Drops for Monster Fest 2023 Official Selection THE EMU WAR

This time last week we revealed our MONSTER FEST 2023 First Look programming for Melbourne that included THE EMU WAR and now we’re psyched to share the Teaser Trailer for the film courtesy of our friends and festival sponsors Umbrella Entertainment.

Revisionist, ridiculous and hilarious does not begin to describe filmmaking trio Lisa Fineberg, John Campbell & Jay Morrissey‘s THE EMU WAR, an absurdist reimagining of Australia’s historical battle with the native Emu back in 1932, complete with puppetry, animatronics, gore and laughs galore!

THE EMU WAR will have its World Premiere at MONSTER FEST 2023 in Melbourne at Cinema Nova as the Closing Night Film of the festival on Sunday 22nd of October and Tickets are On Sale Now.

Created by the prolific Australian comedy outfit, Hot Dad Productions, this web-series turned feature film is an unhinged take on the true story of the infamous Great Emu War that will have audiences laughing, gagging, and cheering till the very end. The non-stop joke fest stars some of Australia’s finest comedians including Damian Callinan, Lisa Fineberg, Aaron Gocs, Dane Simpson, Ben Russell, Lena Moon, Jonathan Schuster, Cameron James, Naomi Higgins, Ethan Marrell, and Luke McGregor.

Based on the infamous Great Emu War of 1932, a rag-tag platoon of soldiers are driven into a brutal and bloody battle against Australia’s deadliest flightless beasts. Haunted by the kidnapping of his son at the hands of the Emus, Major Meredith leads the platoon behind enemy lines in order to kill the emu’s leader, The Queen Emu.

Umbrella Entertainment’s General Manager remarks that “Umbrella Entertainment could not be prouder to support the retelling of one of Australia’s most ridiculous and entertaining moments in history. The Hot Dad team have created an original Australian comedy film featuring iconic local comedy talent, which is best experienced on the cinema screen, surrounded by a raucous audience. Get ready to laugh… and maybe cry… and develop a very rational fear of Australia’s largest flightless bird”.

THE EMU WAR World Premiere at MONSTER FEST will include a post-screening Q&A with Cast & Crew from the film followed by our festival’s annual Awards Ceremony & Closing Night Party.
