MONSTER FEST 2026 SPREADS TO THE REST OF AUSTRALIA!
Melbourne may be in the thick of Monster Fest 2026 right now, but we’re only getting started.
At the end of October, Monster Fest packs its bags and takes the show on the road, bringing a selection of this year’s horror, cult and genre cinema to Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
From October 30 – November 1, Monster Fest returns with a brand new selection of horror, cult and genre cinema, bringing together some of the biggest films from this year’s festival circuit alongside a couple of fresh additions making their Monster Fest debut.
This year’s interstate line-up spans international festival favourites, homegrown horrors, documentaries, cult cinema and all manner of strange and sinister discoveries – including BLACK SHEEPS and DEAD HOWLING, two new additions joining the Monster Fest 2026 program.
Each city will have its own slightly different line-up, so keep your eyes peeled as we reveal exactly what’s heading your way.
Take a look at what’s heading to a cinema near you…
THE ONLY ONE
Zoe returns home for a friend’s wedding and discovers the exes she left behind are still carrying a torch. Unfortunately, somebody dressed as the Prince Charming has started killing them, one by one.
Sydney-siders – you lucky dogs, you – will get a Q&A after the film with cast and crew.

DEAD HOWLING
With humanity overrun by the undead, two siblings searching for sanctuary cross paths with a lone survivor who has one hell of an advantage against the zombie apocalypse – he’s a mutha-trucking werewolf. Shot in Perth and starring Ryan Kwanten, Temuera Morrison and Joel Jackson, DEAD HOWLING pits fangs against flesh-eaters in a battle for survival. If you only see one Australian-werewolf-zombie-mutant-post-apocalyptic-horror-film in cinemas this year, make sure it’s DEAD HOWLING.
Perth and Sydney folk, will be treated to a Q&A with cast and crew after the film.

BLACK SHEEPS
Twenty years after New Zealand unleashed genetically engineered killer sheep upon the world, a young scientist returns to the scene of the original carnage and discovers a murderous sheep-worshipping cult, a deadly new pathogen and livestock with a taste for human flesh. Jonathan King returns to the director’s chair for BLACK SHEEPS, with Wētā Workshop back in the paddock delivering a fresh flock of practical-effects monstrosities.

I LOVE PARIS
An aspiring singer discovers becoming a vampire is considerably easier than getting a slot in a music festival in Nicky Murphy’s award-winning, guerrilla-shot Parisian mockumentary.

KYLGOR IN THE GRISLY ABYSS AND OTHER ANIMATED ABOMINATIONS (Sydney Only)
Six wonderfully grotesque animated shorts give way to the main event – a blood-soaked, all-puppet sword-and-sorcery epic five years in the making.

RUBBERHEAD: THE LIFE & MONSTERS OF STEVE JOHNSON
Videodrome. Ghostbusters. Fright Night. The Abyss. Species. Meet Steve Johnson, the practical-effects genius behind some of the greatest monsters of the VHS era – and discover the spectacularly chaotic life behind them.

BLOODY TENNIS
Elite sport, occult rituals, body horror and cat-intestine racket strings collide at a European tennis academy where it’s not whether you win or lose – it’s whether you’re still alive at the end of the match.

PINOCCHIO UNSTRUNG
Pinocchio desperately wants to become a real boy. Unfortunately, his understanding of the process involves acquiring the necessary human components one bloody piece at a time.

BOORMAN AND THE DEVIL (Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide only)
How did the director of Deliverance end up making one of the most notorious flops in Hollywood history? David Kittredge digs into the making, breaking and unlikely resurrection of EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC.

EXORCIST II: THE HERETIC (Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide only)
Richard Burton. Psychic mind-melding. African mysticism. Swarms of locusts. James Earl Jones dressed as a giant grasshopper. One of the worst films ever made – or a misunderstood masterpiece?
Nearly 50 years later, you can decide.

NIGHT OF THE DEMONS (Sydney, Adelaide Only)
Horny teenagers, demonic possession, spectacular practical effects and Linnea Quigley’s unforgettable lipstick trick. Kevin Tenney’s 1988 horror favourite returns to the big screen in all its funny, filthy, gooey glory.

GODMOTHER
A romantic desert getaway takes a decidedly unholy turn when three young holidaymakers meet a group of suspiciously hospitable retirees with a sinister interest in their new neighbours.
