Stephen King’s SLEEPWALKERS Special Event Screening In Melbourne
Melbourne’s CINEMANIACS are presenting a screening of director Mick Garris‘s vastly underrated 1992 shapeshifting horror SLEEPWALKERS on Saturday 25 November at ACMI.
The screening will include a pre-show presentation by festival programmer and film historian Jarret Gahan and an exclusive pre-recorded introduction by director Mick Garris.
Written directly for the screen by Stephen King, SLEEPWALKERS would be the first pairing of the legendary author and director Mick Garris, that lead to an incredible collaborative relationship on a host of feature film and television mini-series projects including THE STAND (1994) and BAG OF BONES (2011).
Brian Krause and Alice Krige star in this terrifying tale of modern-day vampires who prey on virtuous young women. Madchen Amick is the sexually curious virgin who falls for the new boy in school (Krause), only to learn too late that he’s a life-sucking Sleepwalker. Mutating at will from golden boy to savage monster, Krause stalks Amick to feed his seductive mother. As the tension mounts (and the casualties pile up), the town’s tabbies gather for a final, chilling showdown with the monsters in their midst – and we all know it’s not nice to hurt people’s felines.
