Fangoria x Monster Fest Presents FRIDAY FRIGHT NIGHT Online!
Dating back to our very first MONSTER FEST at Cinema Nova back in November 2011, when we were formerly (and briefly) known as Fantastic Asia Film Festival (FAFF), the aim of our festival was to bring together an audience of likeminded Melbourne film fans to experience the latest and greatest genre cinema from the around the world.
Building a community has always been paramount to us and we’re pleased to have taken MONSTER FEST wide, with the participation of our festival partners FANGORIA and EVENT CINEMAS, we’ve visited all states within Australia for festivals and/or special event screenings.
Now in these troubled times that we’re all enduring, it’s important for us all to stay connected and to preserve our unique genre film community.
With that in mind, we’re psyched to announce the triumphant return of FANGORIA x MONSTER FEST Presents FRIDAY FRIGHT NIGHT!
We’re coming to you, through the wonders of the internet we’ll be screening LIVE from our Monster Fest Facebook Page THIS FRIDAY 9PM AEST and best of all this event is FREE!
Headlining our programming this FRIDAY FRIGHT NIGHT is writer/director Nick Jongerius’ folklore slasher THE WINDMILL MASSACRE with an exclusive introduction from the filmmaker himself!
THE WINDMILL MASSACRE follows Jennifer (Charlotte Beaumont, BROADCHURCH), an Australian girl on the run from her past who washes up in Amsterdam. In a desperate attempt to stay one step ahead of the authorities, she joins a coach-load of tourists embarking on a tour of Holland’s world famous windmills. When the bus breaks down in the middle of nowhere, she and the other tourists are forced to seek shelter in a disused shed beside a sinister windmill where, legend has it, a Devil-worshiping miller once ground the bones of locals instead of grain. As members of the group start to disappear, Jennifer learns that they all have something in common – a shared secret that seems to mark them all for doom.
In keeping with the MONSTER FEST tradition, we’ll be presenting this online incarnation of FRIDAY FRIGHT NIGHT in the same fashion as we would in the cinema with pre-show entertainment!
As part of our pre-show we are presenting FANGORIA x MONSTER FEST 2019 ‘Best Student Short’ award-winner BRUNCH SHIFT MASSACRE! Helmed by Sydney-based triple threat Adam Boys (writer/director/actor), BRUNCH SHIFT MASSACRE is a descent into the hellish depths of the life of a waiter during a busy brunch service that turns into a violent climb back to sanity. FANGORIA x MONSTER FEST is proud to present the Australian Online Premiere of the award-winning short ahead of its online release on April 16th.
You can comment throughout the presentation and we invite you to chat with old friends and hopefully make some new ones too!
