MONSTER FEST 2018 Final Wave Programming Revealed!

With just five weeks to go before MONSTER FEST VII: THE HOMECOMING engulfs Melbourne’s Cinema Nova, we are thrilled to reveal our final wave of programming that’s guaranteed to satisfy all fans of frightful and fearless cinema!

Monster Fest is proud to present the Australian Premiere of NIGHTMARE CINEMA, an all-new horror anthology from MASTERS OF HORROR ringleader Mick Garris. Fresh from its world premiere at the prestigious Fantasia International Film Festival, NIGHTMARE CINEMA boasts five tales from such genre luminaries as Joe Dante (PIRANHA), Ryûhei Kitamura (THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN), Alejandro Brugués (JUAN OF THE DEAD), David Slade (30 DAYS OF NIGHT) and Mick Garris (SLEEPWALKERS). Without doubt the greatest horror anthology of the past thirty years, NIGHTMARE CINEMA is refreshingly free of duds while ensuring there is something for every horror taste and the perfect film to see with a crowd!

Also making its Australian Premiere is FIRST LIGHT, an alien invasion feature that cleverly fuses its Spielbergian influence with a charming indie aesthetic. Centring on Alex, who is left with amnesia and strange new abilities after a close encounter, FIRST LIGHT is the feature directorial debut of Jason Stone, who makes a seamless leap from award-winning shorts to feature with this ambitious small-scale sci-fi opus that is not to be missed!

Murder City’s infamous trash peddler, Dick Dale, returns to Melbourne to debut another sordid program of the sickest, most twisted and goriest films he could get his grubby mitts on from around the globe. Cinematic atrocities and disasterpieces sure to drive you to the depths of hell and hilarity. When it comes to TRASHARAMA, if it ain’t right, it’s PERFECT!

Continuing the tradition of our world-famous ALL-NIGHT MARATHON, this year we bring you THE NIGHTMARE CINEMA THAT BROUGHT YOU NIGHTMARE CINEMA, with a selection of features by the filmmakers responsible for NIGHTMARE CINEMA and as with our previous all-nighters, the line-up will not be revealed until the marathon unfolds on the night/morning.

Finally we are psyched to announce that we’re bringing Trivia back to Monster Fest as we invite you to worship at the alter of our lord and saviour JC with JOHN CARPEN-TRIVIA! Presented by Rocket Australia, prizes include limited edition vinyl, posters and much more but be warned this won’t be no stroll through Haddonfield, we’re going deep so you’ll need study up and know your Hobb’s End from your Bottin.
