Monster Fest 2019 / 23 July 2019

MONSTER FEST PART VIII: MONSTER TAKES MELBOURNE Second Wave Announcement!

MONSTER FEST PART VIII: MONSTER TAKES MELBOURNE returns to Cinema Nova from Thursday October 10th to Sunday October 13th and with over two months to go, we’re excited to reveal our Second Wave of Programming!

A revolutionary medical treatment transforms a hideously disfigured woman into something that is as beautiful as it is deadly in the Twisted Twins Jen & Sylvia Soska‘s bold reimagining of David Cronenberg’s RABID.

Keola Racela‘s PORNO is glorious throwback to the gross-out horror-comedies of the 80s/90s that sees five teenagers do battle with an alluring succubus after unwittingly unleashing her from a mysterious 35mm film print.

BLISS is a hallucinatory, carnage-laden horror from writer/director Joe Begos that follows a brilliant young painter suffering from artist’s block as she traverses the sleazy underbelly of Los Angeles in search of curious stimuli.

A widower mends his broken heart with a dominatrix seeking her own like-minded connection in J.-P. Valkeapää‘s DOGS DON’T WEAR PANTS, a darkly funny and surprisingly sweet take on grief, emotional redemption and the recuperative qualities of a golden shower.

Adam Egypt Mortimer‘s mind-bending psychological horror DANIEL ISN’T REAL follows a troubled teen who in an effort to overcome a devastating trauma, reawakens his childhood imaginary friend with dire consequences.

Stranded on a yacht, three best friends turn on one another as their deep-seated secrets, lies and desires are laid-bare at sea in writer/director Rob Grant‘s pitch-black comedy HARPOON.

XX filmmaker Jovanka Vuckovic makes her feature directorial debut with RIOT GIRLS, a dystopian vision of 1995 whereby a virus has wiped out the adult population, leaving kids to fend for themselves and against one another.

Murderous schoolgirls, geriatric sex and possessed faecal matter abound in Fabricio Berrata‘s GHOST KILLERS VS. BLOODY MARY, a Ghostbusters-inspired horror/comedy about four paranormal detective vloggers who are called in to investigate a haunted school bathroom.

Søren Juul Petersen‘s Danish horror FINALE is a voyeuristic and breathlessly vicious tale of two woman who are unwilling participants in a sadistic online game show that has them fighting for their lives against the twisted Ringmaster.
